Self Assessment III

I think that this project definitely helped me become more comfortable with the interactions that make up an interview. This was the first time that I had ever done an interview and I was extremely nervous but as the interview went on I was able to calm myself down, portray more confidence, and become a better listener. This project also really helped me understand the necessity of being concise. I also learned how to incorporate videos and pictures more fluidly into a text/post.

I would say that I am more aware of what moves I try to make as a writer than I ever have been. I've always kind of relied on a natural flow when writing but this class has forced to me to be more cognizant of thinking about what does the structure of a sentence or paragraph does.

I want to continue to work on creating a strong hook -- that was one of my goals at the beginning of the semester and I'm still not satisfied with where I am with that. Also, I'd like to dive into research like Joan Ryan talked about -- research for the sake of research and then see what I want to write about. This is more general, but I want to work on moving away from a traditional essay and towards the form of writing I read from sources like Sports Illustrated, The Ringer, and Vice.
